ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said that Pakistan had taken up the challenge to curb the menace of terrorism and extremism in the larger interest of international peace and security.

Talking to British High commissioner, Mr. Adam Thomson in Islamabad, Gilani said it was imperative for the international community to extend the requisite support to Pakistan in the capacity building of its law enforcement agencies as well as in the reconstruction of areas cleared from militancy.
Gilani also took up the matter of delay in the issuance of visas for Pakistani students and businessmen and asked British High commission to clear the backlog.
On the visas issue, The British High Commissioner said that the new visa system process introduced is not specific to Pakistan.
He, however, assured Gilani that the process would be made more efficient in response to difficulties being faced by Pakistani nationals intending to visit UK.
